The Serpents, Fires and Lotuses

One evening after completing her chores, the maid reclined on the floor. She put out her tongue and then pulled out a cobra from her tongue and dropped it on the floor.

The next moment the serpent turned into a lady dressed in red silk saree.

"I am her Vak Sharpa" she said. Vak sharpa mean the serpent of speech.

She asked me to put out my tongue and then pulled out a serpent from mine. It was much smaller. She held it by the tail between her right thumb and middle finger, then she dropped it into a clay pot. I became speechless the moment the serpent was removed from my tongue.

She continue,
"The tribal had studied and codified the human body in a series of verses known as Deha Shastra, the manual of the body, it was never written but was passed orally and every teenage boy and girl of her tribe knew it whole. The verses start with the atoms carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and all others and then explains the molecules and then cells and then at the end the whole human body. But this woman who is your maid was not satisfied with it. She felt that there exists subtle anatomies behind this and went to the forest to discover them.

During her time in the forest she discovered the subtle anatomy of serpent, fires and lotuses behind the physical anatomy of the body.

She discovered that at the center of the head is the lotus of the mind on which resides coiled the triple serpents, Jnana Sarpa, Budhhi Sarpa and Citta Sarpa, the serpents of wisdom, intellect and awareness. These three are fed by the serpents of the senses and in turns feeds the serpent of speech."

After that she returned my Vak Sharpa to my tongue and turned into a serpent to be taken back into the tongue of the maid.
